The Life You Change Could Be Your Own!
Each year beyond the walls runs service trips to Guatemala City, Guatemala to serve the scavenger community that lives in and around the Guatemala City garbage dump. Scavengers sort through the city’s refuse day after day searching for items to use or sell, even food for their families. Earning an average daily income of $5.00 they live in communities that have sprung up on reclaimed land surrounding the giant landfill. We partner with Potter’s House Association, a Guatemalan nonprofit organization, to serve the 11,000 people in these communities with medical services, construction of new homes, renovation of existing homes, refurbishment of infrastructure, skills training and relational activities such as day camps and sports camps for children.
